3D Modeling for Anthropocene Project

The objective of the project was to find 5 objects, without buying anything, that is related to  the anthropocene. I choose to model a Game Cube controller, a toy that dances, a mouse trap, a dust mask, and a toy Volkswagen Bug.

I included the game controller because video games are becoming very popular. Either just for entertainment or as a training, video games have become one of the most popular forms of entertainment.  Video games have also greatly effected how children have grown up and interact with their friends.

The reason I included this dancing toy is because it has no function but to jitter and move around when it is wound up. Its purpose is to entertain the viewer which I assume is mostly humans.

The mouse trap was included because humans are a species of animals obsessed with killing things. I remembered reading a quote by Einstein about mousetraps, “Mankind invented the atomic bomb, but no mouse would ever construct a mousetrap.”

The dust mask was included to represent how pollution is getting worse and also how people will occasionally put themselves into self-harming positions for a greater purpose. I wear dusk mask so that I can cut wood or weld without inhaling harmful vapors but I would never not make something because it would be bad for my health.

There is a lot of historical context of the Volkswagen Beetle; it was originally created in 1937 by the German Labour Front under the guidance of Adolf Hitler. The object itself is a plastic model of the car, which I believe makes it more poetic because the car is made out of a material made from fossil fuels. A real car, plastic products, and Nazi Germany have all greatly effected humanity.
