The Evangelical Christian community’s attachment to Donald Trump would be comedic if it wasn’t real. Why they have chosen him as their savior and are unable to see through his bullshit, I’ll never know. The man single handedly represents over half of the seven deadly sins; greed, envy, wrath and pride just to name a few. Trump is a greedy, egotistical liar. He is a convicted felon, owes money for sexual assault charges (most would say rape), and he is on trial for many other crimes (including trying to overthrow the United States government during the January 6th insurrection). Trump also is a supporter and member of the ultra-rich 1%. “The love of money is the root of all evil.” If being a billionaire with a gold skyscraper with his name on the side isn’t proof of loving money, I don’t know what would be. To top it off he befriends and idolizes authoritarian leaders such as Putin. Even with all of these facts he is still the one the Evangelical community believes is the closest related to Jesus. Maybe Trump’s loose stance against abortion and his involvement in overturning Roe v. Wade is all the Evangelical community needs to secure their vote. But if anyone actually believes that Jesus would support Trump, they should really rethink Jesus’s message.
